Anemia
Anemia is a condition where the number of red blood cells is too low or they aren’t functioning properly, affecting the body’s ability to carry oxygen (this is related to a protein called hemoglobin). Malnutrition can lead to deficiencies in key nutrients essential for hemoglobin production, such as iron, folic acid, vitamin B12, and vitamin A.
Additionally, chronic inflammation, parasitic infections, and inherited blood disorders can also contribute to anemia. Severe anemia can cause symptoms like dizziness, weakness, and fatigue, which can significantly impact a child’s development and learning abilities.
